Some of you may be aware that a number of other Autistic advocates are speaking out at the moment about DNA testing..due to Spectrum 10k

As an Autistic led organisation, with a team of ALL autistic employees.. we feel the need to explain why we don't post and engage in these current issues as much as some others do.

We have not been asked as an organisation by the Autistic Community to contribute to statements or share our stand point publicly, and this is because we are seen to be all about EHCPs.. (Education health and Care plans), we love that fact and we really want to keep it that way.

We know that our thousands of members and followers all come from different life situations.

That is the thing about Special educational needs and disability, it impacts all walks of life..

We always feel we need to keep our focus firmly on EHCPs and what you need to know to get support here and now..

Basically -How to practically get the job done..

We know that those of you struggling with SEND and EHCPs, as well as dealing with poverty or abuse, or your own physical and mental health concerns are unlikely to have the energy to look deeply into wider issues around SEND, and we don't want to add to your struggles by sharing our views with you on these divisive topics..

The world of SEND and EHCPs can be an extremely confusing place.

We help Doctors and Lawyers and Headteachers to navigate the EHCP process. We have even helped LA officers and SENCOs to understand how to support their own children.. These highly educated professionals cannot navigate SEND.

We do not ever want parents to feel ashamed or judged if they do not know what to believe or where to sit in regards to current issues..

We do believe strongly that if you have the energy to learn about current issues and campaign, then you should.. and there are lots of places to find information about all the current political and health issues for parent carers.

We can signpost you to people with views and information about current issues in our membership inbox or free in our messenger inbox, in a confidential way.. so you feel no pressure to state what or who you believe. Just get in touch..

For now though, we most importantly want you to know that all are welcome here, no matter your view or stand point on any SEND discussion.

We are all on the shitty sea of SEND, but we always focus on remembering that we are not all in the same boat..
