Fathers Day

parenting

Any day that comes with rules and guidance around what must or should be done is hard for children and young people who are demand avoidant. (Hard for us adults too).

The expectation for ‘special days’ to be filled with joy and focused on another human can be too overwhelming.

Buying gifts. Special trips. Places to go, people to see… it’s just often too much.

So I hope your Father’s Day is going well, but if it’s not meeting the expectations you set, then throw out the rule book and try to look at all communication as a learning opportunity.

We don’t celebrate Father’s Day in our house for a number of reasons, it just doesn’t work for us as a team. Instead we went to a waterfall and the kids ate the insides of sausage rolls 😂😂
