Appeals
I always want families to feel able to attend appeals without forking out for hefty legal support, but I also always remind them that there have been times when I have been to court and judges have clearly got out of bed the wrong side and decided to eat me alive (even when it’s clear I’m right ).
The point of telling people that is because court and any meetings really, become a lot less scary when you realise you can only control and manage what you say and how much work you put in.
How others react could be impacted by soooo many factors. In human nature, right and wrong are often thrown out the window and replaced with human emotions and instincts, based around their own challenges.
I have won and lost in court, but every time I’ve learnt and grown and the lives of the children I’m supporting has improved, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little.
This year we want to help more families recognise that they can, should and must appeal.
