About Mango Cheesecake

An LA 0-25 team officer wants a cake.

They show a school a photo of a chocolate cake. They ask the school if they can make it for them. The school look at said picture and tell the LA YES.. They have everything they need to make that beautiful chocolate cake. They have made that before.. So the LA pay the school the money and expect success.

But... The LA held up the wrong photo, as the cake was not chocolate anymore. It was a Mango cheesecake with gold leaf and spun sugar work. The school have never made a cheesecake. They don't have the ingredients for it. They would have said a BIG FAT NO if they knew it was cheesecake.. It is totally out of their depth.. The money for a chocolate cake will no way cover the cost of this beautiful Mango creation.... The school try, but they know they are set to fail.

The school will ask questions. They might even try to make it ok by telling people the mango turned back into chocolate and then just cover the cake in chocolate sauce.

The LA and school might try to fool people into believing the cake is chocolate cake now through and through... (Gaslighting)

Your kid is the Cake. The photo is their EHCP.

Often I see cases where LAs are using EHCPs which state something completely inaccurate in comparison to what a child needs. It is misleading. The LA is to blame.

It can often be a tactic to stop a child moving into a special school placement. If the LA mis-represent a child's needs then a mainstream will think they can manage, when the reality is the placement is set to fail from the start and the funding is hugely inadequate.

As a parent/carer. If your child's EHCP doesn't describe what you know your child needs.. Call a review, demand updated reports and appeal if necessary.
