Courageous Advocacy
I’ve been looking for a phrase to counterbalance gaslighting of parents for a long time.
A phrase I could have used when I was in court myself against my perpetrator and questioned every day whether I should just give up.
A friend of mine who works in a leadership role in a school spoke to me a week ago about how they develop skills in the kids in: Courageous Advocacy.
I realised there and then that this is what I’ve been looking for all that time.
So when you feel like people think you are;
Anxious
Angry
Making things up
Making things difficult
Causing the problem
Making a big deal of nothing
Remind yourself how courageous it is to fight for your child’s rights when the cards are stacked against you.
Remind yourself of all the other courageous people the world has tried to silence!
Your job is to support your child’s success and that’s what you are doing. It involves asking difficult questions, not following the status quo, expecting opportunities and inspiring outcomes.
How are you going to Courageously advocate next week? Make a list and tick it off day by day.
